State of Maryland: Solar Energy Incentives

SOLARINCENTIVES

Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. signed Senate Bill 485, the Solar Energy Grant Program sponsored by Senator Robert Garagiola, into law on April 27, 2004. This program provides funding for a portion of the costs to install certain qualifying solar energy systems.

The Maryland Energy Administration will begin taking applications in January of 2005. The incentives will be as follows:

  • Solar water heating property: 20% of system costs up to a maximum of $2,000

  • Residential photovoltaic property: 20% of system costs up to a maximum of $3,000

  • Non residential photovoltaic property: 20% of system costs up to a maximum of $5,000
